Realme C2 Review

Realme has made a name for itself by selling smartphones equipped with powerful hardware at aggressive prices to compete with Xiaomi. The company recently launched Realme 3 Pro (Review) to compete with Redmi Note 7 Pro (Review). Now the company has launched Realme C2, the upgrade version of Realme C1 (Review). The starting price of Realme C2 is Rs 5,999. We have seen the test of Reality C2, so let us know about it in detail.

Design of realme c2

Most budget smartphones are boring to look at. Handset manufacturer companies generally do not prioritize design to keep prices low and to keep performance good. But this is not the case with Realme C2 as it is an attractive smartphone. Like other smartphones in the budget segment, the Realme C2 is made of plastic, but the finish on the back panel is unique.
Realme has used a geometric diamond-cut pattern on the back panel of the phone. You can see it on our Diamond Blue Review Unit. Patterns emerge when the back of the phone lights up, giving it a premium look. Due to the finish, fingerprints do not fall easily on the back panel.

There are two rear cameras with single-LED flash on the back of the phone. Realme’s logo will be found on the bottom panel of the phone. Realme C2 has a larger display and selfie camera has got a place in Waterdrop Notch. Our review unit is already equipped with a screen protector. We found that due to the curved frame in Realme C2, the phone easily fits in the hand.

The power button is placed on the right side of the phone, the hand is easily reached to the button. On the other hand, the volume button is on the left side of the phone. The SIM tray is located just above the volume button.

Realme C2 has a micro-USB port, loudspeaker and primary microphone at the bottom while there is nothing in the upper part of the phone. To reduce the cost of the phone, like Realme C1, the fingerprint sensor has not been provided in Realme C2. We found that the build quality of Realme C2 is good and during the review, there was no scratch on the phone.

Realme C2 specification and software

Reality C2 is a budget phone and its specifications are not very effective. This phone is equipped with the Octa-core MediaTek Helio P22 processor. Its base variant has 2 GB RAM and 16 GB storage. The price of Realme C2 starts at Rs 5,999. 2 GB RAM + 16 GB storage variants will be sold at this price.

The phone’s 3 GB RAM + 32 GB storage model is priced at Rs 7,999. We have 3 GB RAM variants of Reality C2. Realme C2 has a 6.1-inch HD + (720×1560 pixels) display, with 19.5: 9 aspect ratios. There is a protection of Corning Gorilla Glass 3 on the handset. Its viewing angles are also good and the display is quite bright in the outdoor. You can also change the color temperature as per your choice.

To make life in Realme C2, a 4,000 mAh battery is provided and this phone comes with a 10 watt charger. It is a dual-sim phone and has two nano-SIM slots. Both SIMs have 4G as well as VoLTE support. To increase storage, Realme has also given a microSD card slot. Realme C2 includes FM radio, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth version 4.2, A-GPS and Glonass for connectivity.

Reality C2 runs on ColorOs 6.0 based on Android 9.0 Pie. Our review unit is running on the March 2019 security patch. Some apps like Realme C2, Realhunt, Facebook, Newspoint, UC Browser, Amazon, Sharechat and PayTM will be pre-installed in Realme C2. You can also uninstall them if you want.

Support for the theme is also included and you can download these from the Theme Store app. The App Market is another alternative to the Google Play Store and is also pre-installed, but we found that it keeps sending spammy notifications throughout the day. Realme C2 also has a Game Center app where you will get only games.

Like other Realme smartphones, the Realme C2 also has a driving and riding mode that automatically puts the phone into DND mode when connected with the car’s Bluetooth head unit. It can also auto-send SMS when you reject an incoming call. Gesture navigation is also available in Realme C2.

Realme C2 performance, battery life and camera

Realme C2’s performance is acceptable in this price segment, MediaTek Helio P22 processor has been used in the phone. We did not encounter any problems while scrolling through the app launches and menus, but when we pulled the notification panel down, the phone used to slow down a bit.

We also tried multitasking on this phone but sometimes the phone takes a little time to load heavy apps. The fingerprint sensor is not provided in the phone, but it is equipped with face unlock feature. This smartphone quickly unlocks the phone.

We played PUBG Mobile on low settings, graphics on smooth and frame rate on the medium. The gameplay was not smooth and it was stuck. We changed the frame rate to low which made a slight difference in gameplay but it was still not smooth. To make life in Realme C2, a battery of 4,000 mAh has been provided, the battery life of the phone is good.

In our HD video loop test, the phone supported us for 20 hours and 29 minutes. We used WhatsApp in the phone, used Google Maps for two hours of navigation, and saw some benchmarks running. The charger that accompanies the phone takes more than 2 hours to charge the battery.

Realme C2 has dual rear camera setup. The primary sensor is 13 megapixels. Its aperture is F / 2.2. With this, a 2-megapixel sensor with F / 2.4 aperture will work in Jugalbandi. The handset has a 5 megapixel sensor with F / 2.0 aperture for selfie. The camera app is the same as we have seen in realme smartphones before. It has buttons for HDR, chroma boost, filter and flash.

It also has pano, expert, time-lapse and slo-mo modes. The camera app provides 2x digital zoom support. The phone has a beautification mode with the help of which you can set the amount of beautification. We liked the pictures taken from Realme C2 in daylight. The focus was good in the photos and the detail was captured well.

Macro shots came out better than we expected and the phone maintains a proper distance between the subject and the background. The phone locks focus quickly and there was no problem with exposure during shooting on macro mode. The detail was captured well in the portrait shot. Pictures taken from the phone in low light did not do much good. There was no sharpness in the phone and when zooming in it, grains were visible.

The detail was captured well in the selfie and the quality is also good at this price. Realme C2 also has HDR support for the front camera. Rear camera 1080p resolution video, while the selfie camera is capable of making 720p resolution video.

Our decision

There is also Realme C2 powerful hardware, good battery life and up-to-date software at a starting price of Rs 5,999. We have usually seen smartphones with weaker processors and older software at this price. Camera is one aspect of this phone that needs improvement but its quality is right at this price.

If you buy the base variant of Realme C2, then tell that it can prove to be a profitable deal. If you are thinking of buying 3 GB RAM variants of Realme C2 and if you can increase your budget a little, then Redmi 7 or Nokia 5.1 Plus (Review) can also prove to be a great option for you. These smartphones are also available at the same price but if compared, they come with better hardware.
