For the 3 GB and 32 GB storage variants of the Galaxy On7 Prime, you will have to pay Rs 12,990, while if you prefer 4 GB and 64 GB storage then you will have to pay a price of Rs 14,990. Exclusive sales of this smartphone will start on Amazon India from January 20. To counter popular smartphones like Xiaomi Mi A1, Lenovo K8 Note and Nokia 5, Samsung has added some apps and unique software features to On7 Prime. We spent some time with this handset at the launch event and investigated this phone. How did we like this Samsung handset at first glance? Let’s tell …
Before going deep, we will talk about the new feature called ‘Samsung Mall’, which Samsung has brought to India for the first time. With the help of this app, users will be able to buy their product of choice online from all e-commerce sites. The specialty of this feature is that you take a picture of any product and buy the same product online. With the feature, it has been claimed that with the help of image recognition, your favorite product will be added to the cart in one click, which you will be able to buy easily by paying online.
When we investigated this feature, we found that many of the items we selected did not match. Apart from this, there was a problem in making the frame of any shot. But this is early experience. The final decision on this will be heard only after reviewing the handset. On the other hand, this app definitely identified some popular smartphones like Google Pixel 2 and iPhone 7 Plus. Hopefully this feature will get better with time.
In terms of design, the Galaxy On7 Prime looks very similar to the Galaxy J7 Prime. This smartphone, which comes with a metal body like J7 Prime, weighs 167 grams. The phone is 151.7 millimeters long, 75 millimeters wide and 8 millimeters thick. On On Prime 7, you get a 5.5-inch full HD screen, which comes with 1080×1920 pixel resolution. It has a PLS TFT LCD screen with 16: 9 aspect ratios. 2.5D curved glass is used for the premium look. The display is similar to the rest of Samsung’s smartphone, in which you will get a better viewing angle, color and good brightness.
The home button is given below the display and there are capacitive buttons on both sides. One button is for multitasking and the other for going back. There is also a home button, fingerprint sensor. We found that the fingerprint sensor is accurate and works quickly. Just above the display is a 13-megapixel selfie camera, which is equipped with F / 1.9 aperture. We found that the Galaxy On7’s front camera takes natural photos, not unnecessarily adding filters. Keeping in mind the craze of Instagram and Snapchat stickers, Samsung has given the sticker feature in the smartphone itself.
The primary camera of the Galaxy On7 Prime is also 13 megapixels, with F / 1.9 aperture. It is also equipped with autofocus. At first glance, the autofocus feature looked somewhat weak. We did not get the expected results while taking macros shot. Let us tell you that Samsung has claimed about both cameras that the user will get better photo quality even in low light. We could not investigate this at the launch event, but we will definitely get you to know the truth of the claims while reviewing in detail.
Only the camera and LED flash have taken place on the back side of the smartphone. You will also see the Samsung logo here. Due to the metal body, this phone will fit better in your palm.
Loud speakers and power / lock buttons are provided on the right side of the phone. The left side has space for a volume button, SIM card slot, and microSD card. Apart from this, the phone has a micro-USB port at the bottom and a 3.5mm headphone jack.
Talking about hardware, Samsung’s own Octa-core Exynos 7870 chipset has been used in On7 Prime. We will discuss the performance of this processor with a clock speed of 1.6 GHz in detail in our review. In the launch program, we got a variant of 4 GB RAM, in which there was no problem in using.
This smartphone will run on Samsung Experience 8.5 based on Android 7.1.1 Nougat. The company has not said anything about the Android 8.0 Oreo update at the moment. Since there have been reports about the Beta Oreo update in the Galaxy J7 Prime, we hope that the latest Android will knock on On7 Prime as well.
Apart from the Samsung Mall feature, this smartphone supports Samsung Pay Mini, which will serve as an online wallet and UPI for you. Due to lack of internet, we could not use this feature in the launch event. Apart from this, you will get features like one hand mode, camera shortcut, multi window, split screen and smart alert in the phone. Smart alerts will alert you about missed calls and messages. With this, the Galaxy On7 Prime will come with apps like Microsoft Office and LinkedIn. Like the rest of today’s smartphones, in this you will also get apps like Google, Gmail and YouTube pre-installed.
Talking about the battery, you will get 3300 mAh battery in Samsung Galaxy On7 Prime, which we will test in our review soon and will tell you about the results. Overall, Samsung Galaxy On7 is a ‘money value phone’ in terms of battery, camera, performance, software or not? We will let you know in our review soon. Stay connected with Gadgets 360.
